By John Speer, Editor
TOLEDO CHRONICLE • TAMA NEWS-HERALD • - Part of the $54 million U.S. 30 bypass through Toledo and Tama is scheduled to open some time on Monday, Nov. 1, Doug McDonald Iowa Department of Transportation resident engineer at Marshalltown, said Wednesday afternoon. The roadway from the U.S. Highway 63 interchange in Toledo east to the M Avenue interchange, a mile east of Tama, is the section to be opened. If the opening takes place, it will be right on the schedule of a November completion date. Weather permitting, McDonald said the segment from the U.S. 63 interchange west to the Deer Creek bridge on Toledo's west side will also open later in November, he said. The traffic at the ramp "terminals" - the Expressway entrances on U.S. 63 will be controlled by stoplights, McDonald confirmed. However, the entire Expressway connection from the Meskwaki Hotel - Casino complex west of Toledo to the interchange east of Tama won't be done until some time in 2011. Traffic will be two-way from the Deer Creek bridge west.
