The Tama Fire department was dispatched about 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, to the Meskwaki Powwow Grounds for the report of a vendor tent on fire. Radio traffic from Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police at the scene said a propane tank in or near the tent was in danger of exploding. The crowds were being moved back from the area. The annual Powwow is in its second day of a four-day run.
