Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

MARSHALLTOWN Standard contracts authorizing Iowa Valley (through Ellsworth Community College/ECC and Marshalltown Community College/MCC) to provide college level instruction for high school students were approved with South Tama, West Marshall, Hampton Dumont, AGWSR and East Marshall school districts hen the Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors met at their October meeting.

Contracts for Iowa Jobs Training with Oldcastle Materials Group (dba Cessford Construction), college level instruction at five high schools, and snow removal were approved when the Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors met this week.

A 260F Iowa Jobs Training Program agreement with Cessford Construction in the amount of $15,000 calls for Iowa Valley Continuing Education to provide Microsoft Office application, safety, and management skill training to 60 Cessford employees in LeGrand. Iowa Valley Director of Business & Industry Training Deb Hawks noted that this is the fourth such training agreement with Cessford since 2009, and that the company is an excellent corporate partner.

The Board also approved a snow removal contract with Top Notch Tree Service for snow removal on the Marshalltown campus.

During the Chancellor's informational report to the Board, it was noted that the District is close to resolving the water problem at the Ellsworth Equestrian Center in Iowa Falls. Bids are being sought for remediation of the problem, and it's anticipated that the work will be done by the end of November with no need for litigation. Mort's Plumbing and Heating of Iowa Falls is doing the work.

In other matters, the IVCCD Board: approved payment of 2013 membership dues to the American Association of Community Colleges, approved the MCC men's and women's basketball schedules, and approved the ECC, MCC and Iowa Valley Grinnell student activity budgets for 2012-2013.
