What is termed full support for the Herbert Hoover School Library continues through the Iowa Juvenile Home Foundation according to Carol Thompson, the organization's president.

Grants received this year are being used to pay for a librarian to staff the library on a part-time basis.

Among grants received were Tama County Community Foundation - $1,000; Iowa Women's Foundation - $2,500; and a match grant totaling $2,500 from a private donor who is a former student.

"The library maintains a collection of around 3500 books, mostly fiction that students use for recreational reading. Goals for the library are to help students become lifelong readers, to maintain a non-fiction collection that supports the school program, and to make sure students leave IJH knowing that their community libraries will be a resource for them," Thompson wrote in an email.
