Meskwaki 40, North Tama 33
TRAER - The Meskwaki girls' basketball team survived its own season-low output to remain unbeaten with last week's 40-33 triumph over Iowa Star Conference foe North Tama.
Dia Keahna and Kadyn Clark both scored 14 points to lead the Warriors, who improved to 4-0 overall with their third conference win. Tiana Thompson added seven points and Jaden Davenport had five more for Meskwaki, which goes to Don Bosco on Friday night.
Emma Knoop paced North Tama (0-4, 0-2) with six points while Allison Zobel and Sam Zobel had five points apiece. Abi Watson, Shayla Kopriva and Josie Youel chipped in four points each for the Redhawks, who play Friday at Waterloo Christian before hosting Class 1A No. 6 Grundy Center in a non-conference game Saturday.
North Tama 88, Meskwaki 51
TRAER - Eleven different players scored as Class 1A No. 9-ranked North Tama ran away from Meskwaki and claimed an 88-51 victory over the visiting Warriors in Iowa Star Conference action Tuesday.
The Redhawks (4-0, 3-0) scored their season-high output behind a 59-point first half total. They scored 37 points in the second quarter alone to take a 32-point lead into the locker room.
Jacob Wrage had 19 points, seven steals and five assists for North Tama, while Mitchell Boerm poured in 17 points. Skyler Kvidera added 12 points and Nolan Hefty netted 10.
Dalton Hulme also contributed six points and seven assists, while Jacob Watson and Paul Kaufmann led the Redhawks with seven rebounds apiece.
Corey Dye led Meskwaki (2-2, 1-2) with 14 points while Tyus Grant had 12 points. Darrion Murray chipped in seven points and Cordell Bear added six for the Warriors, who play Friday at Don Bosco.
North Tama takes its sterling record to Waterloo Christian on Friday night before hosting Grundy Center in non-conference play Saturday.
