South Tama JV girls defeating opponents

The South Tama County junior varsity girls basketball team has begun the season with a 5-0 record, which was capped off with an easy victory over South Hardin.

The Trojans cruised to a win over the Tigers, beating them 46-6 on Dec. 11. The Trojans held South Hardin scoreless in the first quarter, taking a 20-0 lead. At halftime, the Trojans lead increased to 33-4. South Hardin was again held scoreless during the fourth quarter of the game.

Nine STC players scored in the game, but no player reached double figures. Dani Stubbs led STC with nine points. Alyssia Keahna added seven points, while Naomi Hoskey and Tieranny Keahna each scored six. Also scoring for the Trojans were Kallie Hala (5), Miranda Lacina (5), Madie Bacon (2), Sam Betz (4) and Sydney Upah (4).

During the previous week, South Tama defeated West Marshall and Grundy Center. STC beat West Marshall 47-25 after taking down the Spartans 53-37.

Another solid first quarter led the Trojans against West Marshall. They outscored WM 17-4 to begin the game. Stubbs again led STC with 11 points. Bacon and T. Keahna added eight and nine points, respectively.

T. Keahna was the leading scorer against Grundy Center. She scored 26 points on 13 field goals in the win. Bacon also scored 11 points.
