South Tama's wrestling squad easily won both of its duals at Hudson last week, before nearly winning all four duals in New Hampton on Saturday.
On Jan. 3, the Trojans defeated Hudson 61-9 and Dike New Hartford 55-18. Eleven Trojans went 2-0 on the night. They were Jaret Probasco, Jake Thiessen, Kade Steuhm, Lucas Shope, Bailey Chyma, Levi Kaufman, Kolton Smith, Erik Lux, Kyle Llewellyn, Dalton Vest and Garrett Hoskey.
Probasco, Thiessen, Steuhm, Smith, Vest and Hoskey each recorded pins that night. Chyma won both matches with technical falls, while Kaufman and Vest each won by major decision.
On Saturday, South Tama traveled to New Hampton to compete in four more duals. STC beat Waterloo East 51-30 and Waukon 56-16. STC also narrowly lost, 34-33, to New Hampton, who is ranked in the top 10 for team duals. The Trojans other defeat, 39-36, came against Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, who was 10-1 entering the match.
Five South Tama wrestlers won all four matches on the day. They were Steuhm, Chyma, Kaufman, Lux and Vest. Steuhm had three pins and a major decision. Chyma pinned one opponent and recorded one technical fall. Kaufman had three pins and a major decision. Lux pinned all four opponents, while Vest had three pins and one forfeit.
The Trojans hosted a team dual at home on Thursday night. They will compete in the Ankeny Invitational on Saturday, before going to Oskaloosa on Jan. 17.
