Muriel E. Bro

Muriel E. Bro, 93, of Montour, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Carrington Place of Toledo. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at Living Faith United Methodist Church in Montour with Pastor Brian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, from 2-4 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Muriel was born on April 4, 1919, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Sam and Christina (McCoy) Tvedt.

She graduated from Montour High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

On March 29, 1942, she was united in marriage to Howard M. Bro in Dunbar.

Muriel taught country school before her marriage and while Howard was overseas during World War II. She was a devoted and active member of Living Faith United Methodist Church in Montour. Muriel was famous for her cinnamon knots, butter horns, and fried chicken. She was very proud of her poppies and lily of the valley. Muriel loved music,dancing, monarchs and hummingbirds.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Howard on Sep. 12, 2011; a son, Paul Howard Bro in infancy; and one brother, Jerome Tvedt in infancy.

Survivors include three sons, John (the late Daniele) Bro of Neville-Sur-Mer, France, Mark (Melody) Bro of Montour, and Paul (Ruth) Bro of Terre Haute, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Gael Bro, Samuel, Christopher, Laura, and Eric Bro, and Nora and Johannah Bro; one brother, Robert (Lucille) Tvedt of Montour; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Living Faith United Methodist Church.
