"I've always wanted to write a book," says Brian Harnish, and he has "The Cold Grip" will be available at a book signing event at the Toledo Public Library on Friday, April 25, from 3-5 p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend, enjoy refreshments and pick up an author-signed copy of the book.
Harnish, 26, says it took him six months to write the 220-page novel with much of the time spent in proofing. The book is self-published.

"The Cold Grip" is a tale about street gangs in the early 1950s and is set in the Toledo and Tama area. Harnish says he enjoys books from this era in time and refers to "The Outsider" by Colin Wilson and J.D. Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye."
It's available on internet websites and Harnish said a copy even surfaced on eBay, the popular internet auction site.
The author has lived in Toledo since 2009. With his wife, Kalia, they have two children, McKenna, 2 1/2 and Lucas, six months.He works in security at Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel. His father is Jeff Harnish, Ackley police chief, and a former Toledo police chief.
