Board Approves Third Consecutive Tuition Freeze For Resident Undergraduate Students

December 3, 2014
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald
At its Dec. 3 meeting, theIowa Board of Regents voted unanimously to freeze tuition rates for 2015-2016 for resident undergraduate students. With this vote, the Board will implement a tuition freeze for undergraduate resident students for a third consecutive year. "We will continue to work to improve access and affordability at Iowa's public universities, particularly for Iowa residents," said Board of Regents President Bruce Rastetter. "We are confident that the Board initiatives approved this year, the TIER efficiency study and the Performance-Based Funding Model, will allow the universities to direct additional resources to our students rather than asking our students to pay more," added President Rastetter. Regent Larry McKibben added, "I have full confidence we will find cost reductions as we move into the implementation phase of TIER that will allow the universities to redirect funds into areas of excellence, particularly for our students."
