Letter to the Editor:
LOOK AT DEAN FISHER
With the election coming soon, it's time to look at what candidates have done, not just at what they say. Dean Fisher doesn't just talk fiscal responsibility, he leads by example. He has donated many thousands of dollars back that he does not use from his per diem allowance. What a great idea. I'm sure many of you have seen pictures of Dean with local volunteer fire departments. Those small departments have tight budgets and play a huge role in our rural community. How many house or senate members do that? I would like to know if there are any others in our area who donate their per diem excess back to the taxpayers.
Dean has been a leader in promoting the Safe at Home Act. That protects some of the most vulnerable in our state-those who are victims of domestic violence, stalking or rape. The role of government was designed to protect our rights, not do things for us that we can do ourselves. These victims deserve to have the basic need of safety met.
Our constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms-it does not give us that right-it only protects our right. The NRA (National Rifle Association) has given Dean an "A" rating.
The Iowa economy is based on agriculture. Dean has been listed as a Friend of Agriculture by the Farm Bureau. It is another positive to have a legislator who understands farming.
With the election soon it's time to look at what candidates stand for. Take a look at Dean Fisher.
