Letter to the Editor:
On behalf of the Toledo Public Library, I would like to extend a thank you to those of you that visited the 2016 Annual Book Sale during October and November. It was great to see all of you perusing the sale and filling up those bags.
The book sale is held each year at the same time with approximately 1,400 books, audio books and DVDs that were available to the public this year. The book sale is a great way for the library to raise revenue where all funds go back into the library to help support the purchases of new materials.
Library materials are weeded each year for content, condition and relevancy (with all memorial books being kept in the library).
The Toledo Library participates in the Standards and Accreditation Program through the State of Iowa at a Tier III level. Accreditation standards require this tier level to weed over 3 percent of its collection annually to keep library collections current, relevant, clean and in overall good condition.
Often times we receive donations of new or gently used books, audio books and DVDs that are added to our book sale. These items are greatly appreciated and help support the Toledo Public Library.
So next year when October and November roll around, think of stopping into the book sale at the Toledo Library where you can grab a bag or two (or three) of books, audio books and DVDs to help support the library for many years to come. We will be happy to see you.
