Tama County Historical Society unveils new temporary exhibit

The Tama County Historical Society and Genealogical Library has a new temporary exhibit showcasing stories and items related to Tama County military service members.

The exhibit will be on display through June 7. To visit, stop by the museum during regular hours, Monday-Saturday, 1:00-4:30 p.m.

The exhibit features uniforms from Viva J. Erickson, Traer (Army); Richard A. Abbe, Toledo (Air Force); Stanley E. Friedrichs, Toledo (Marines); and Robert A. Vorba, Traer (Navy). Stories about the veterans are included as well.

The veterans were selected to represent different areas of the county, Elizabeth Reece, Historical Society president said.

Each was selected from the museum collection.

"We chose them because they were in the best condition or we could find the story of the soldier who wore them. We chose one of each branch of the military that would have been worn during WWII.
