A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated St. Patrick's Day. Kind of a crazy time of the year, I guess.....and speaking of crazy, do you remember "The Unicorn Song" by the Irish Rovers? I listened to it a couple of times on You-tube and even orchestrated my voice into a fine Irish tone while blaring out why we don't see a Unicorn this very day!! Anyway, this got me to thinking about all the other crazy, nutty and goofy songs from "way back when." Here were a few of my favorites....
Mister Jack. ("I thank you very much and you've been very kind...)
The Streak. ("Don't look Ethel but it was too late...)
Please Mr. Custer. (I don't wanna go).
Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. (I never went to camp, but this would of been me for sure).
Purple People Eater. (ah, it was ok).
* They've Come To Take Me Away (Remember this one?)
My Ding-A-Ling (Favorite college song)
Puff the Magic Dragon. (Ok, ok, what was it about?)
Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport. (For some inane reason, I still love this one today).
Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its' Flavor... (Yes, it does)
Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini (What a risque song back then!!!!)
The Witch Doctor. (He told me what to do).
In The Year 2525. (Gulp....we're getting closer and closer and closer)
King Tut. (Loved Steve Martin doing the Tut dance).
Little Red Riding Hood. (Sam the Sham and the pharaohs one and only hit)
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. (The movie with John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart was great too)
Ringo. (The only hit from Lorne Greene, "Pa" on Bonanza).
I'm sure there are many many more, but here is a start for you. Do you remember any others. Let me know at email@example.com or call me at 319.327.4640.
By the way, it was John Wayne who shot Liberty Valance.
And, South Carolina will win the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. Guaranteed!!! Kinda.
