Truck driving career checked out by South Tama elementary students

South Tama County second grade students are investigating the variety of careers during Anita Townsley's classroom guidance lessons in April.

Second grade students have been encouraged to ask family members to volunteer their time and share about their jobs/careers. Several have taken the opportunity to visit the school and share their expertise.

On Friday, April 7, Dreymis Padilla, 2nd grade student in Jill Dilly's class, had her grandpa Richard Douglas bring his semi truck to STC Elementary and share with Padilla's class. The students had many questions that they asked Douglas. Douglas has been hauling loads over the roads in semis since the middle 1970's.

Students were very interested in climbing into the big rig and seeing what the inside of the semi was like. Douglas readily answered their questions and helped them climb up in the big rig.

Padilla's grandma, Deb, treated the students to a snack after the students had examined the semi.
