Mark Kubik, 51, of Ankeny passed away unexpectedly May 17, 2017.

A celebration of his life will be held 3 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017 at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N Ankeny Blvd).

Mark was born February 25, 1966 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Thomas E. & Charlene A, Kubik.

He graduated from South Tama high School in 1984, and went on to earn an Associate's degree in Applied Arts at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, with a major in Criminal Justice.

In September of 1988 he married Karoline Jones, and together they had a son, Nathan.

Following his graduation from college, Mark went to work as a Police officer for the Washington, Iowa Police Department.

Two years later, he became a patrol officer with the Ankeny Police Department, 2 years after that he was promoted to Detective, and 2 years later he was promoted to Police Sergeant of the Ankeny Police Department.

After serving 15 years with the Ankeny Police Department, Mark went to work as a Probation Services Manager with the Center for Creative Justice, and a few years later was promoted to the Executive Director's position, where he served until December of 2015. He then became a Health and Safety instructor with the American Red Cross.

Mark lived life to the fullest. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, especially wrestling and football, and an avid Dolphins and Cubs fan as well. He enjoyed fishing, concerts, music, boating, movies, ice cream, riding his Harley, cracking jokes, and making his nieces laugh.

He will be greatly missed by his son, Nathan; his sister Sherry (Rick) Beasley; 9 nieces,2 nephews, and many cousins and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Daniel Kubik.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be directed to organizations Mark supported.
