Lee Meves

Lela Mae "Lee" Meves, 78, passed away at her home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on February 28, 2018. Graveside services are 10:30 AM Saturday, May 27, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama, Iowa. A celebration of life will follow.

Lee was born April 18, 1939, in Marshalltown Iowa, the daughter of Laurel and Gladys (Hauser) Meves. Her early years were spent in Tama County Iowa, moving to Williams, Iowa in 1948. She graduated from Williams High School in 1956 and earned an AA degree from Ellsworth Junior College, Iowa Falls, Iowa, in 1958, and attended the University of Iowa. She married Phillip Abraham in Iowa City, Iowa in 1969. They later divorced. Lee remained close to her stepson, Sam Abraham, throughout her life.

Lee had a successful career in the real estate and mortgage industry and as an Instructor at Kirkwood Community Education for real estate.

Lee was passionate about the theater, participating in high school and college productions and in the Cedar Rapids Community Theater. She will be remembered by friends and family for always being immaculately dressed, for her love of the performing arts, her sense of humor, love of travel, and for being a caring daughter, niece, aunt, stepmother, cousin and friend.

She is survived by an aunt, Joan Lensch, cousins Don, Richard, and Laurie Lensch Hemphill, Craig Larson and Julie Larson Schwartz, and Joan Hayward Helm, Chris Drummer, and Mike Hayward, stepson Sam Abraham, and niece Mary Abraham Slaveck.
