Beating the heat- warm weather hits area early

With temperatures of late topping 90 degrees the popular spot to be has been the Tama-Toledo Family Aquatic Center. Morgan McFate, manager, and Marlys Upah, assistant manager, report an average of 225 persons per day in the 16 days the pool has been open since May 27.

A total of 31 lifeguards and 17 concession workers along with the managers make up the Aquatic Center staff.

Members of the T-T Aquatic Center Board are Shayna Zmolek, president, Jan Boll, secretary, Kevin Thomas, Jamie Upah, Aaron Yuska, and Mike Thede.

The Aquatic Center hours are early morning swim- 6-7:30 a.m.; open swimming 1-5 p.m., 5-6 p.m.- family swimming; and open swimming 6-8 p.m.

The family swim time is for parents, grandparents, their kids and persons 18 years old and older.

By date to June 11 here are the attendance figures: May 27- 34 (closed due to weather at 3 p.m.), May 28 - 166; May 29- 118; May 30- 117; May 31- 244; June 1- 331; June 2- 341; June 3- 288; June 4- 182; June 5- 182; June 6- 150; June 7- 291; June 8- 159; June 9- 338; June 10- 347; June 11- 321

The Aquatic Center also offers pool parties and swimming lessons.

The pool parties can be scheduled on Friday, Saturday or Sunday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday evening for younger swimmers; and 8-10 p.m. any night except Sunday.
