Mid-Iowa Yuoth Beef Team expresses thanks for support

June 16, 2017
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Dear Editor:

June 1, 2017 several Mid-Iowa Youth Beef Team members had the opportunity to present the funds that they raised for the Midwest Wildfire Relief to the Iowa Cattlemen's Foundation Board for distribution to those tragically affected by the devastating fires. The final tally for the team's fundraising efforts: A WHOPPING $4,000!

Special thanks to the Marshall County and Tama County Cattlemen for walking this journey with the team and to EACH & EVERY PERSON that bought a burger, made a donation, and supported the team with this fundraising project. We learned first-hand that age does not determine success or failure; it is really just a number, not a limitation or excuse. We also realized that communities extend beyond borders of a town, a county, a state, etc. We are grateful and proud of the support our local communities demonstrated with their contributions to help support our Beef community a community that supports one another as we produce nutrition to feed the world!

Seven lives were lost battling the wildfires and attempting to save livestock, between 1.5 and 2. Million acres burned, over 10,000 cattle burned alive, homes lost, etc. THANK YOU EVERYONE for your support and contributions to help the communities and people rebuild from their devastating losses!

Members learned first-hand that age (we are between 12 to 18 years old) does not determine success or failure, it is really just a number, not a limitation or excuse. We also realized that communities extend beyond the borders of a town, a county, a state, etc. We are grateful and proud of the support that our local communities demonstrated with their contributions to help support our Beef Community - a community that is 95% family owned and supports one another as we produce nutrition to feed the world!
