The Tama County Cookie Challenge will be held on Thursday, July 20, with check-in at 3:30 in the Klinefelter Building. Judging begins at 4 p.m Participants should plan to be present during judging. Official rules are below.

2. Give your cookie a name. For example--Grandma's Gutbusters. The crazier, the better.

3. Please bring the entire batch to the fair with 12 cookies arranged and presented to appeal to the judges (a group of expert cookie eaters) and the balance of the batch stacked in a disposable container of your choice.

4. Winner will be judged on 3 things. 1) Name of cookie 2) Eye appeal 3) Taste

5. Cookies not used in the Challenge will be given out to audience afterward.

Bring your critter to the fair on July 20 at 3:30 to be entered in the Klinefelter Building. Critters will be put on display and fair visitors will vote for their favorite critter by placing coins in a bucket. Critter that brings the most cash is the winner.

Winner will be announced prior to the Pee Wee Wrangler Show on Friday, July 21 at 4 PM. Questions for the cookie and critter challenges should be directed to the ISU Extension & Outreach office at 641-484-2703.

Repurpose Challenge

Another challenge is sponsored and run by the Tama County Fair Board.

This challenge supports the fair scholarship fund.

Repurposed for My Home Challenge dares you to take any old item and create a functional decoration! Old pickle jars become beautiful storage canisters, unusable keys become a key rack! Pallets become furniture!

Show off your talents. 4-H & FFA Clubs are encouraged to participate. Invite individuals who are good at this kind of thing. All items will be auctioned during the fair.

Please deliver your item to the Klinefelter Building by Wednesday, July 19.

Questions for this challenge should be directed to Laura Edler at 641-691-5646.

4H Clubs are also challenged to bring 2 buckets of flowers each to decorate the fairgrounds. Be creative and add your club name to the bucket to receive credit for it.

Let's have some fun at the fair!
