July 27, 2017
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

The deadliest railroad incident in Iowa history is the focus for a program on Wednesday, Aug, 2, at 7 p.m. at the Tama County Historical Society, 200 N. Broadway St. Toledo. The program is free and open to the public.

The train wreck near Green Mountain and Gladbrook on March 21, 1910, was the deadliest railroad disaster in state history. More than 50 travelers lost their lives when their trains - combined into one and detoured due to a wreck near Shellsburg - went off the tracks. David Shearer will talk about the tragedy and the people whose lives were lost.
