By Times-Republican Staff , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

CEDAR FALLS - With the college football season fast approaching, preseason predictions for player performances are coming out and a local athlete has been named as a player to watch in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

University of Northern Iowa senior punter Sam Kuhter, graduate of South Tama, was selected as an honorable mention for the Preseason All-MVFC team heading into the 2017 campaign. Kuhter - who played both quarterback and punter for the Trojans - finished as an honorable mention in 2016 after finishing with a 40.4 yards-per-punt average, good enough for fifth in the conference.

He also finished as a second-team all-conference selection in 2015, after putting up the third-most punting yards in a season for the Panthers.
