The sentencing date for Tait Otis Purk, 51, Tama, on a charge of 1st degree murder has been re-set for Friday, Aug. 18, in Tama County District Court in Toledo.

Sentencing was first set for July 10 following his conviction by an Iowa County Grand Jury in the case of his fiancee, Cora Ann Okonski, then age 23, who went missing in Tama, in April, 2000. She has never been located nor a body found.

Previously the sentencing date had been delayed from July 10 and changed to July 28 following a hearing on a motion for a new trial on July 14.

The case was heard in Marengo in Iowa County on a change of venue from Tama County due to pre-trial news coverage.

Purk is being held at the Iowa Men's Reformatory at Anamosa on a previous theft conviction while awaiting sentencing on the murder charge.
