Richard Murphy

Richard Murphy, 53, of Belle Plaine and formerly of Tama, passed away October 1, 2017. Richard was born August 20, 1964, in Des Moines to Karen (Murphy) Singleton and was adopted by Donald Eastridge.

He worked as a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed arm wrestling and drawing. He was the father to five children, Brenda Cortez (Mike) of Cedar Rapids, Sammy Kendall of Eldora, Stephanie Eastridge of Cedar Rapids, John Charles Eastridge of Eldora, and Kayla Eastridge of Eldora.

He is survived by his children, his mother and stepfather, Karen and Donald Singleton of Montezuma, Donald Eastridge of Missouri, four brothers, Mike Eastridge of Des Moines, Gerald Neal, Jr. of Grinnell, Brad Eastridge of Barnes City, and Jeff Eastridge of Missouri, four sisters, Jessica Enlow of California, Carrie Jo Barnes of Montezuma, Doris Armstrong of Oskaloosa, and Becky Davis of Wisconsin, 10 grandchild, and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two nieces, his maternal grandmother and grandfather, and two step-grandfathers.

He was an open hearted, selfless man who donated his organs so others may go on. He is loved by many. Services will be held on October 15, 2017 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Eagles in Tama, IA.
