South Tama 8th grade volleyball downs Benton

The Eighth Lady Trojans travelled to the home of the Benton Bobcats and left with a big win for South Tama. The Trojans overwhelmed the Bobcats by winning 7 of 9 sets for the night.

The A team had an exciting match. In the second set, Autumn Bartling dove for the ball and kept the A squad alive. The team went on to play a tough rally that seemed to go on forever.

Benton tried to hang in there with the Lady Trojans but lost the ball on a push by setter Laurel Upah. The A team won their match in 3 sets scoring 21-13, 21-10, and 15-11. Lead servers for the team were Breanna Riha, Gracie Vest, and Kailee Meek. Adriana Cervantes had 1 solo block.

In the second match, The B team shook it up for the Bobcats as well winning their match 21-13, 15-21, and 15-8. South Tama showed up for the evening in serves against Benton. Upah, Veit, and Cervantes took aim and powered their serves down on Benton. Bartling had 1 block for the win.

The C team kept the win rolling by taking their match 10-21, 21-13, and 15-13.

The Lady Trojans also hosted Vinton-Shellsburg on Monday, September 25, 2017.
