Gladys Marie (Stadler) Schild, 93, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away November 7, 2017 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at

Gladys Marie (Stadler) Schild

Gladys was born August 30, 1924 to Joseph A. and Tillie (Kosnar) Stadler at the family farm north of Chelsea. Gladys graduated from Chelsea High School. On January 11, 1947 she married Paul "Pete" Schild. The couple moved to the Schild family farm south of Belle Plaine, where together they raised their two children.

Galdys was an exceptional farm wife and homemaker. She was a very talented at many things including crafts, crocheting, and sewing where she made stuffed animals, prom dresses, suits and quilts. She enjoyed cooking and baking in which she was known for the best kolaches around. Gladys also spent her time refinishing furniture, and decorating the house. Prior to her husband passing they enjoyed their time together traveling and playing cards.

Gladys had a love for small children and babies, she was the happiest when there were children around. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love for the whole family.

She was a member of the Friendly Neighbor's Club.

Gladys is survived by her children, Linda (Ken) Kaiser and Scott (Joan) Schild both of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Molly and TJ Schild, Bill (Rachel) Kaiser, Bridget Kaiser, and Janell (Richard) Breck; 5 great-grandchildren, and many more nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bernice Dvorak and brother, Joseph S. Stadler.

The family would like to thank Karl Holmes and the staff at Belle Plaine Unity Point Clinic, Care Initiatives Hospice, and Belle Plaine Specialty Care Center.
