But rather rejoices for those he has."

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it gives each one of us to reflect on those things we are blest with and grateful for. There is a big difference between being grateful for something and being a grateful person, don't you think? Probably anyone reading this column knows that life in our "neck of the woods" is pretty darn good. United States is always the greatest country to live in, Iowa is one of the very best states, (we love the four seasons, right?), and Chelsea (a great place to grow up in), and the surrounding towns is the best Iowa has to offer. So we're all in good shape, don't you think? However, here are a whole bunch of other things I am thankful for....

Coffee. Strong, strong coffee.

My health. Not the best, not the worst, but heck, "I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in." I torture myself a few times a week at the Wellness Center!!!

Thankful for the four seasons of Iowa. We all grumble a lot about the cold but come on, you know you like the change of seasons. Wouldn't it be boring to be warm all year around? And we all love that first 3-4 inch snow fall of the year and ya gotta have snow for Christmas, right?

By the way, I'm thankful I don't have to make the decision on whether to have school, delay school or not. Tough decisions. But we still grumble!!!

Thankful for my wonderful friends at the Senior Center and the "Geezer-Golfers." Each one is a wonderful blessing to me.

Coffee. Good to the very last drop.

Thankful for finding twenty bucks in the coat pocket I haven't worn since last winter. Does anyone else find loose money like that? A mini-lottery win!!

I'm thankful for Pizza! In a pinch, you can always say, "Hey, let's order a pizza," and everyone's happy. Now to find the coupons!!

Finally, I'm thankful that I voted and that we have the opportunity to vote, but I miss those little stickers that proclaim "I voted."

The dollar menu on most fast food places.

Flip Flops

Loud socks are becoming my "go to" presents of choice. But not with the flip flops.

Egg Rolls, bacon cheese burgers and those thick steak fries.

Duct tape and WD40. My tools of choice. Actually my only tools.

I stay home on what is called Black Friday. No way I'm getting up and standing in line before the doors open at 4:00 am. No way!!

Amazon Prime

Telling a really great joke and nailing it! Doesn't happen often. Ask the group at the Senior Center.

Caller I D.

Did I mention coffee???

And finally, did u here about the lady picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy answered, "No ma'am, they're dead." Come are laughing a little bit and I bet you use it sometime in the next week or so.

I hope your Thanksgiving this year is a great one of family, laughter, good food and building memories. That's The Way I See It. Let me know what you think at or call me at 319.327.4640. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!
