Q: You've got some good talent and leadership with Jessica Musgrave. Can you tell me a bit about how you are going to use her this season?

A: We will use her as a member of the 2017-18 basketball squad. We know her abilities can shine, but so do our opponents. We have to develop a team not around her but with her. If we develop a team around her everyone can focus on stopping her to stop our team. If we develop a team "with" her teams will not be able to focus just on Jessica. We are going to count on her to do a lot of good things to help the team out, but we are counting on everyone to do a lot of good things to help the team out.

Q: The team graduated the top three scorers behind Musgrave from last season. How do you look for this year's squad to fill in those gaps?

A: Our challenge to the girls will be you need to score 10 points a game. That is every girl who is on the floor not just Musgrave. Our hope is a balanced offensive attack with 5-10 girls scoring their 10 points each game. We will try to get the girls aggressive with the ball. I know it idealistic that we will get that many scoring 10 points, but that is the goal we are giving the girls. We are telling all the girls if you are open you have to take the shot.

Q: You now have a week of practice and a scrimmage under your belt. How is it going?

A: With a week under our belt, I can say we are heading in the right direction. The girls have to learn a new offense and new ways of doing stuff. Our scrimmage showed we still had a lot to work on but a week into a new program if we had it all down that would be amazing.

Q: Do you anticipate any JV or freshman players from last year coming up and making an impact early on?

A: We will be counting on JV and Freshman players to fill in the gaps. Right now we are looking at least two freshman playing considerable minutes to start the season and we have our eye on a couple more. Watching attitudes and ability.

Q: What are you most looking forward to this season?

A: Improvement and Teamwork, That is all I want, that is all we need if we can improve as a team every time we step out on the court. Then we will be successful no matter the final score.

The I one thing I ask of our fans is "Kill them with Kindness". Everyone we meet in the course of this season, the other teams, their fans and even the officials. Leave a mark on them forever that South Tama can be proud of.
