Larry Lee Smith

Larry Lee Smith, 79, of Toledo, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at Premier Estates of Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Private Memorial Graveside Service will be held at the Dysart Cemetery at a later date.

Larry was born on July 18, 1938, in St. Louis, MO.

Larry worked at the Iowa Workshop in Marshalltown in the redemption center for over twenty years. As a young boy, he worked in the Woodward State Hospital, helping take care of other children. Larry enjoyed string beads and loomed rugs. He enjoyed watching TV, especially westerns. He also liked to play Bingo.

Survivors include his siblings, Bill Manley of Unionville, MO, Nancy (David) Miller of Springfield, MO, Lawrence Fowler of Dysart, Leonard (Vicki) Fowler of Mesa, AZ, Kathy Gladson of Forest City, John (Deb) Fowler of Dysart, and Tim (Colleen) Fowler of Dysart; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Fowler; two brothers, Dick Manley and James Fowler; two sisters, Margaret Cranston and Drucilla Gray.

A memorial fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank Premier Estates of Toledo and Iowa River Hospice for the exceptional care that was given to Larry.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama is assisting the family with the arrangements.
