PHOTO SERIES: A new photo in Allison's picks will be posted everyday through Friday, Jan. 5

Another year is coming to a close. Personally I?am happy to put 2017 in the rear view mirror. Professionally there have been some great highlights in 2017.

Over the holidays I?started reflecting on the year. I?have seen lots of year in recaps and it inspired me to look back on all of the photos I?have taken and memories I?have captured of South Tama athletics. Even covering just one school I?have lots of photos to choose from and many more I?wish I could have included.

Isaac Judge jumped into coach Nate Van Dyke’s arms after winning the Class 2A State Wrestling Title at 152. I loved loved loved capturing this moment. South Tama had not had a State Champ since 2012. I?had not been at State Wrestling Finals since 2001 when Paul Bradley won his State Title. I was a cheerleader at the time. Professionally, it’s an honor to be able to cover State. Personally it was quite nostalgic for me to be back at finals in a completely different capacity.

Some of these photos have run already and some haven't but I?thought I would share them either again or for the first time and explain why they are some of my favorites.

Many of them are simple and most aren't action shots. That is because my favorite photos are the ones that capture the emotion of what is happening.

I hope you enjoy!
