Des Moines- PRESS?RELEASE: An hour after Governor Reynolds concluded her Condition of the State address, State Senator Nate Boulton, Democratic candidate for governor, gave his response with his Democratic colleagues behind him. With a 39% approval rating according to a PPP poll released by Progress Iowa, Governor Reynolds tried to paint a positive story of the last year in Iowa, but Boulton felt it wasn't enough.

"A lot of the focus in her speech was explaining away some of the things that happened this past year, and some of the most concerning things were actually bragged about," said Boulton. "You heard an emphasis on gutting workers compensation and taking away rights of public employees to bargain over their health insurance and better wages as points of pride for this administration. You heard a focus on education with no real long-term solution to the fact that that we've gone 7, and now likely 8 years of underfunding our schools against the rate of inflation."
