It's a season high, career high and possibly a South Tama 5-on-5 scoring record for junior Jessica Musgrave.

Musgrave scored 39 points for the Trojans who hosted Vinton-Shellsburg on Friday, Jan. 19. Musgrave's previous high scores came from two meet ups with Benton Community. She scored 37 points this season against the Bobcats on Jan. 12. She also scored 33 points against Benton last season.

It was a close contest for the two teams going into halftime with South Tama having a slight 22-18 advantage. Following the break Musgrave came out on fire. She was the only scorer for the Trojans in the third quarter with 10 unanswered points during one stretch. Her third quarter performance totaled 16 of her 39 points.

On Tuesday evening the girls team was home again for another WaMaC Conference matchup. It was the second meeting of the season between the Trojans and the Williamsburg Raiders. The Trojans squeaked by the Raiders earlier this season with a 55-53 win in December. Tuesday's matchup went to the Trojans with a 59-43 win.

Williamsburg got out to an early lead but by halftime the Trojans had taken control. South Tama led by 7 points going into half. Coming out of the locker room Sadie Smith hit a three pointer which took the Trojans to a double-digit lead. Smith finished the night with her season best of 14 points. She was 4-7 from the three-point line and had 6 rebounds. Jessica Musgrave led the team with another double-double, scoring 22 and bringing down 15 boards.

It was a special night for one STC junior who celebrated her birthday on the court. Madison Rohach turned 17. She tallied up 6 points and had two rebounds. The student section helped her celebrate by singing Happy Birthday during the third quarter. And what birthday would be complete without cupcakes?

Tuesday's win moved the Trojans overall record to 8-7. They are sitting at 4th in the WaMaC West conference.

The girls will be traveling to Clear Creek-Amana on Friday and will be home again for a non-conference boy/girl double header against Grundy Center on Thursday, Feb. 1.
