Consumers in Iowa are more traditional when it comes to their Valentine's Day gifts this year. Roses, teddy bear, flower bouquets, aquamarine rings and oreos were the top five gifts in your state this year.

Make sure these items aren't in your shopping cart: Iowa shoppers chose lingerie and a bottle of alcohol as their least favorite gifts for Valentine's Day.

To celebrate the holiday, 40% of consumers in Iowa said they would be staying in for the night. 26% will be heading to a romantic restaurant for dinner, while 3% plan to go to the movies.

While shopping early can help you snag the best deals, 14% of Iowa shoppers admitted that they wait until the day of Valentine's Day to buy their gifts.

When it comes to the top treats they hope to receive on February 14th, Roses steal the show as the top Valentine's Day flower in Iowa (64%). If you want to give a more unique gift this year, consider Tulips (17%).
