Ben Jerome Potter Jr., 65, of Tama, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Harlan Nuss officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2018 from 10 AM - 2 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Ben was born on June 20, 1952, at home in Tama, Iowa, the son of Ben Jay and Phyllis Arlene (Davenport) Potter Sr.

He graduated from South Tama County High School.

Ben was a mechanic and owned Dick's Tire in Toledo. He was also a self employed carpenter. Ben liked to restore cars and spend time at the Meskwaki Casino. He also enjoyed fishing and collecting alligators.

Survivors include his significant other, Jennifer Nicholi of Tama; two sons, Ben John Albertson of Ash Grove, MO, and Douglas Brown (Sarah) Potter of Carl Junction, MO; two grandchildren, Jocelyn and Blake Brown; his siblings, Gilbert (Sue) Potter of Ft. Madison, Zelda (Terry) Cecak of Toledo, Faith Shadden of Grinnell, Ivan (Shelli) Potter of Tama, Jason (Jennifer) Potter of Tama, Starr (Jim) Buffalo of Toledo, and Phyllis (Ryan) Ogden of Newton; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Barry Potter, Timothy Potter and Justin Potter; and two sisters, Debbie Potter and Ida Potter Johnson.

A memorial fund has been established.
