South Tama Boys tennis offering suspended, soccer interest is up

March 6, 2018
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Only one student at South Tama High School has signed up to be on the boys tennis team Supt. Berger reported to the school board Monday night, Feb. 19. Sign up efforts were said to be unsuccessful.

As a result the board followed his recommendation and voted to suspend the program for this spring.

Under the plan boys tennis is not eliminated at STC High, but will be evaluated next year to see if there is more interest.

Meanwhile Berger said the number of students "has steadily increased" for boys soccer with it expected to be in the "mid 30s this year." As a result, the board approved hiring an assistant coach for the team.

Information to the board said an assistant is usually considered when programs reach 20 participants.
