Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Jeffery Douglas Hill of Kansas City, Mo., died on February 22 after a long and stoic battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 25, 1957, in Marshalltown, Ia., to Shirley (Abbott) and Warren Hill. On April 1, 2000 he married Barbara J. Wiese in Las Vegas.

After graduating from South Tama High School in 1976, he earned an associate's degree in pre-business administration from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Ia., and a bachelor's degree in business with a minor in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. Over the course of his career, Jeff worked for a number of firms including John Hancock Distributors and Midas Muffler. For the past 26 years he held various positions with Bridgestone Firestone.

Jeff was an avid hunter, loved animals, especially a special hunting companion - a Labrador named Lucy, and he truly enjoyed a good game of Texas Holdem.

A craftsman, Jeff was skilled at woodturning and knife making and shared his creations with family and friends.

In addition to his wife Barb, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Lee Fisher of Tama, Ia.; one sister and her husband, Nanci and Paul Loney; beloved niece and nephew, Emily (Nathanael) Rhody and Sam Loney; and great nieces Birgitta and Ingrid Rhody.

A private celebration of Jeff's life will be held at a later as yet undecided date.
