John’s Rules For Life....

The Way I See it

April 29, 2018
By John Sheda , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Last week it was my pet peeves and now that I got them off my chest, it's time once again for more of my rules for life. So here goes....

Learn to forgive yourself. You did the best you could and made some mistakes along the way. Forgive and move on with your life.

Be a generous person in all areas of your life. The dividends will return abundantly.

When someone tells you a secret-Keep it.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Think first.

Understand what and who a real hero is.

A good hearty handshake, a smile and a strong look square in the eye is your best autograph.

If you want to know what makes you unique in the world, have the artist draw a caricature of you.

It's never too late for an apology.

Life is not Burger King. You don't always get to have it your way.

Don't ever ask a woman if she's pregnant. Never!

Buy good shoes, luggage and tires.

Remember your loved ones on their birthday. It's their special day.

Respect Firemen, Policemen and Veterans. Always.

Get up each day, be thankful that you woke up and then expect your day to be a good one.

Be appreciative of your family, your health, where you live, that you have a few bucks in your pocket, and so on...

Have one favorite meal or dessert you can make that everyone asks you to bring at the potlucks.

Thank people for a job well done.

Keep your word--ALWAYS.

Be kind--ALWAYS. Everyone's going through something.

Be careful to judge people. You don't know the whole story.

Make the little things in life count.

Know the words to the National Anthem, stand when it's played and sing it at every event.

You're all set now. Abide by the above rules and perhaps some of your own and all your your dreams and wishes will come through. Maybe. Perhaps.

Let me know what your rules are at or call me at 319.327.4640.

Oh and a happy belated 50th anniversary to Steve and Karla, a couple of classmates of mine. Hope your day was great.
