The South Tama County Girls Tennis Team embraced the opportunity to finally play in spring-like weather as they faced South Hardin on April 19th. The Trojans notched a big win as they downed the previously unbeaten Tigers by a final score of 5-4.

South Tama took control early as they notched singles victories in four of the six singles matches to start the meet. Junior Abbie Morgan jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead against Blaze Harms and never looked back at #2 Singles. Morgan methodically wore down Harms to post the 8-2 win. At #3 Singles, Junior Zoee Buffalo grabbed six games before surrendering one to Haley Teske. Buffalo went on to record a comfortable 8-1 victory.

Junior Anna Glendy led 7-4 before Izzy Sisson strung together a few games to make it interesting at #4 Singles. Glendy steadied her resolve and went on to win 8-6. Senior Autumn McFate has faced several close matches this season. Her duel with Sarah England at #6 Singles just added to her dramatic season. McFate raced out to a 6-4 lead before England started a comeback. Even at 8-8, McFate took control of the tiebreaker to again surge to an early lead. England powered back to tie things before McFate snatched the final two points to secure the win 9-8 (7).

Senior Bri Nelson faced undefeated Danae Nelson at #1 Singles. The senior from South Tama had an off night and just couldn't find the form to take her to the winner's circle. South Hardin posted their first win with an 8-2 decision. Junior Abby Buffalo showed improving form in her match at #5 Singles against Meghan VanDePol. The final score didn't show the quality that was on display from both players as VanDePol won 8-1.

In doubles play, South Tama's Zoee Buffalo/Anna Glendy secured the meet win for South Tama when they defeated Harms/Teske at #2 Doubles 8-4. Bri Nelson/Abbi Morgan fell at #1 Doubles to Nelson/VanDePol 3-8. Abby Buffalo/Autumn McFate dropped a 5-8 decision at #3 Doubles to Sisson/England.

South Tama and South Hardin battled to a 5-5 tie in JV Action. STC recorded wins by the following doubles teams: Daniela Contreras/Hope Werner, Maddie Cole/Kaylynn Dunn, Skyler Steveson/Alaria Harken, Allison Thomazin/Alexes Baeza, and Jordan VanDee/Bailey Waldo.
