It was a happy day for Sadie Smith when she signed on to continue her volleyball career.

Smith signed with MCC where she will play volleyball for one year. Following that year Smith will move on to another college to further her academic career but for now she is happy to know she will be playing next year.

"Signing day was very exciting for me because I will be continuing the sport that I love to play. I will be attending MCC for one year because I finished a year during high school," said Smith.

Many factors went in to Smith's decision to stay close to home.

"I decided MCC was the best decision for me because all of my credits would transfer better with a completed AA degree. I will also be able to save a lot of money being able to live at home. The final reason that I chose MCC was because my family and local community can come to a lot of my games with them being very close to home!" said Smith.

The MCC Tigers are coached by Justin Hoskins. According to MCC's website Hoskins comes to MCC after spending the 2014 and 2015 seasons at Brunswick Community College in North Carolina. Taking over a program that accrued just one win in 2013, Hoskins led the Dolphins to a seven-win improvement in his first season and guided the team to its first-ever 20-win season in his second campaign.

"Sadie is a perfect example of local talent who can help us compete at a high level," said Head Coach Justin Hoskins. "She has a quick arm and has some good pop on the ball. I'm looking forward to having her in our lineup."

While in high school Smith was a four season athlete for the STC Trojans playing basketball, track, and soccer as a Trojan. Smith plans on majoring in accounting with plans to transfer to a four-year school to earn her Bachelor's Degree.
