A plus for the Trojans was the hitting by Lane Koch. He went two for three at the plate to lead the Trojans. Brayden Smith and Colton Vest also recorded a hit a piece for the Trojans.

Game two

"After coming up short in Game 1 the kids bounced back to take the nightcap," said coach Seth Koch.

The Trojans captured the lead in the 7th inning after being tied 3-3. In the top of the 7th Cael Kellogg hit a single and scored one run.

Cam Klostermann got the start on the mound for the Trojans. He allowed five hits and three runs, striking out one. Benton's Turner Schroeder started for the Bobcats. He allowed six runs on seven hits over seven innings.

The Trojans got on the board early in game two. Kriegel singled on a line drive to right field which allowed Payton Vest to score in the first inning. Brayden Smith recorded an RBI in the top of the 2nd. He hit a grounder and reached base after an error by short stop Spencer Touro. This allowed Vest to score.

A bit later in the inning Colton Vest singled on a fly ball to right field allowing Smith to score.

Benton tied things up in the bottom of the 3rd as Luke Wiebel doubled on a line drive to center field scoring Brady Sadler and Touro.

Offensive efforts from both teams stalled until the top of the 7th. South Tama's efforts from the plate in game two were near double that of game one. They totaled seven hits with Kellogg, Kriegel and C. Vest each managing multiple hits.

Kellogg singled on a line drive to center field bringing in Klostermann. C. Vest advanced to third. This broke the tie giving the Trojans a 4-3 advantage with no outs.

Kriegel singled which brought in C. Vest and advanced Drake Crawford to 2nd. Crawford moved to 3rd on an error by the third baseman. The Bobcats then intentionally walked Koch. A wild pitch brought in Crawford for the Trojans final run of the night putting them up 6-3.

The MVPs of game two came from the pitchers mound. Lucas Wilkerson especially played a key role coming in to finish out the game in the bottom of the 7th. Wilkerson stepped onto the mound with one out and the bases loaded. He struck out both batters to give the Trojans their 6-3 victory.

"A great combined pitching performance from Cam Klostermann, Brayden Smith, and Lucas Wilkerson," said Koch, "Cam threw four real strong innings and Brayden did a nice job of pitching out of some tough spots to keep the game tied going into the 7th. Can't say enough about Lucas Wilkerson coming in and getting the final two outs of the game with the tying run at 1st base."

The Trojans also hosted Central DeWitt for a double header last Friday. STC got the game one win 4-3. Game two was called due to weather and will be replayed at a later date.

"A real statement win for our players against a good DeWitt team," said Koch about the game one win, "Cael Kellogg did an outstanding job on the mound holding DeWitt to only three runs. Probably the best pitching performance for him at South Tama."
