Mayor Mike Carnahan along with members of the Tama City Council warned Monday night residents must remember and abide by city ordinances which seem to be brought about annually with the summer months.

Use of fireworks has resulted in new regulations this year including: consumer fireworks and novelties used or exploded - June 30 - July 4 noon- 10 p.m. except July 4 noon- 11 p.m.; no fireworks allowed on city property or property forbidden by the owner; fine for violation- minimum $250.

Grass must be mowed and cannot exceed six inches in length. If the city mows the grass or directs a contractor to do so the person responsible for the upkeep is billed $200.

Bothersome animals including barking dogs are defined as a nuisance violation. Dogs tied outside and allowed to bark could possibly result in charges against the owner.
