Vickie F. McElroy, 62, of Elberon, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, Iowa, due to medical complications after a lifetime of illnesses.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June, 27, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chelsea, Iowa. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, Iowa.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday June 26, 2018 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. With a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com

Vickie was born in Belle Plaine on April 21, 1956 to Lawrence and Philomena (Sevcik) Cibula. She graduated from South Tama High School in 1974, then attended Kirkwood and Marshalltown Community College. During this time, she worked at the Lincoln Caf. On August 8, 1987, Vickie married Dan McElroy at St. Joseph's Church in Chelsea. Together the couple worked on their farm in Elberon and weas blessed with two boys. Vickie also sorted corn part-time for Pioneer in Toledo. As her children grew older she worked as a library associate for Belle Plaine schools for 13 years.

Vickie enjoyed gardening, reading, flowers, cats, cooking, baking, chocolate, and poppy seed kolaches. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Church where she was a Eucharist minister as well as taught CCD at both St. Mary's in Vining and St. Joseph's.

She is survived by her husband, Dan McElroy of Elberon; sons, Eric (Emilee) McElroy of Marion and Paul (Miranda) McElroy of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Mia McElroy; siblings, Arlo (Nancy) Cibula of Vining, Cheryl (J.P. Golinvaux) Cibula of Des Moines along with many nieces and nephews.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents.
