Each July, over 200 4-H and FFA members enter their exhibits at the Tama County Fair. Ribbons and trophies are earned. Even more important, goals are met, lessons are learned and friendships are made.

The Tama County Livestock and Fair Association invites you to come to the Tama County Fair this July 16-21, in Gladbrook.

This year, the fair has changed the show schedule. Please notice the changes:

Monday, July 16 Non-Livestock judging for 4-H members, FFA students and Clover Kids

Tuesday, July 17 Animals are entered, Pet Show, Dog Show and Opening Ceremony of the Fair which includes the Selection of the Tama County Fair Queen

Wednesday, July 18 Farm Credit Breakfast, Sheep Show, Goat Show, Poultry Show, and Fashion Show

Thursday, July 19 Dairy Show, Horse Show (Speed Events), Rabbit Show, Communications Event and Livestock Judging Contest

Friday, July 20 Swine Show, Horse Show, Pee Wee Wranglers

Saturday, July 21 Beef Show, County Council Reunion and Fun Night

Each day is full of Kid's Crafts, activities and time to tour the exhibit buildings. The Tama County Soil and Water Conservation will be sponsoring a watermelon feed on Friday along with the Conservation Station visiting.

Challenge Event

We are looking for everyone to get involved this year at the Tama County Fair. Each year the Tama County Fair Association holds a challenge event in order to raise money for a scholarship fund. This year the challenge is "Recycle, Rescue, Restore or Reuse." Individuals or groups are invited to take part in this challenge. Turn something old into some new again! Creations must be brought to the fairgrounds on Monday, July 16th and all entries will be auctioned off after the Tama County Fair Queen Coronation on Tuesday, July 17th. Contact the Tama County Extension Office to get registered as an entry.

ISU Extension and Outreach also invites all ages to participate in challenges at the fair to celebrate 100 years of ISU Extension and Outreach in Tama County. Check out our website or contact the office for ways you and your family can get involved.

For a full schedule of this year's fair, visit the Tama County Extension and Outreach website at www.extension.iastate.edu/tama/. You may also contact them at 641-484-2703. Hope to see you at the Tama County Fair this July!
