Meet the Captains: Callie Frakes

September 17, 2018
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Name: Callie Frakes

Grade: Junior

What does it mean for you to be a captain: This is my fifth year being in cross country. Being captain is important to me and I'm glad I was chosen. While I am improving I can help my teammates improve too. I've always kinda been the one that my teammates can get advice or help from since all I do is run!

Favorite athlete: Probably Joy Ripslinger, because she was an Iowa high schooler then competed in xc and track. Her senior year she won the 400, 800, 1500, and 3000. I find it really fascinating that she won all those events and was a high schooler. She also was a leader and very kind to everyone she competed against.

What did you work on during the off season: Mainly just working on getting back in shape.

What does it mean to play for the school: I'm proud to run for my school. When I go to meets I'm glad to run and represent south tama while I'm at it.
