If you have taken a Sunday drive past Toledo Heights in the past few weeks you may have noticed lots of activity taking place. Liga Latinos Unidos has moved to Toledo this season for their adult club soccer league games.

Adrian Castanon, a South Tama graduate, was before the Toledo Council in the spring to strike a deal with the city to use the fields at Toledo Heights. The league originally played in Marshalltown but lost their field space when the Marshalltown School District decided to use the open land for something else. Currently the league is renting the Toledo Heights fields for their weekly Sunday games on a one year contract.

The league began in 2006. Luis Castanon is currently the president of the league. The league consists of 12 teams with each team allowed 21 players. Many of the team members are from the Tama-Toledo area as well as the Marshalltown area.

There are 11 to 12 regular season games, then quarterfinals, semi and finals then a recess is taken and the process repeats.

Occasionally they do have a one or two day tournament throughout the season. The current champions are a team called the Party Boyz. They have been champions for the past four years.
