Home school families tour Toledo Library

October 14, 2018
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

This group of local home school families recently took part in a library tour and story time at the Toledo Public Library. Through the tour, the kids learned a bit of history about the library and learned where things are located in different areas. They learned more about the on-line catalog and how to search for items they are interested in finding. The group was shown the original card catalog that, for many years, housed each library record held in the library. The kids even got a sneak peek at where the books go when someone drops them into the box from the alley drop box. At the end of the tour, each participant was able to choose a book of their choice from our "special box" and take home a small bag of chocolate chip cookies. While the older children toured the building, the smaller children and parents took advantage of a story time held by Iowa Public Television Educational Specialist, Stacie Steveson. Stacie provided a Martha Speaks story time and craft to the children. She also brought bags, books, binoculars and other goodies for the kids to choose, take home and enjoy. It's a real treat when Stacie visits our library!
