Search expected to be launched for new Iowa Valley chancellor

A consulting agreement which will launch a search for an new chancellor for the Iowa Valley Community College District is on the agenda for the Iowa Valley Community College District Board for their meeting today (Nov. 14) at Iowa Falls.

Current Chancellor Chris Duree is expected to formally announce he is retiring at the meeting today- Nov. 14- The Marshalltown Times Republican reported.

Reporter Adam Sodders said the planned announcement came up at a board retreat" on Nov. 7.

It read: "After 38 years in public education, 30 of which have been in public education administration, I have made a very difficult decision to step away from education administration to have more time to spend with my wife and family, and in particular our eight grandchildren,"

Duree wrote in a statement to district officials, which he shared with the T-R on Wednesday. "My heart and my brain are finally 'on the same page' and Brenda and I both feel like the time is right in our lives to enjoy what is most important."

The proposed agreement for the consulting services of Larry H. Ebbers would begin today and continue until the position is filled. Ebbers is identified as University Professor Emeritus,

Professor Education Higher Education, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Iowa State University, Ames.

Budget is set at a total of $8.500 and looks to end in early March with a search committee recommending six-10 possible candidates for interviews via the internet and narrowing of the list to five for board interviews at a time and date to be determined.
