The Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors met in special session on Nov. 28 to approve the sale of property at 3405 S. Center St. in Marshalltown. A sale price of $285,000 with $5,000 down in earnest money and a closing date of April 19, 2019, were approved by the Board; the buyer was not named in the motion.
Robin Anctil, Iowa Valley market director was asked by The Chronicle why the identity of the buyer wasn't made known.
Anctil wrote in an email response: "At this point, our Board has just authorized the sale. It's not final until papers are signed by all parties and filed with the County Auditor."
"We feel good about the way this has gone, and we are very pleased it went as quickly as it did," said Chris Duree, Iowa Valley Chancellor.
The property, also known as the R.M. Wolfe Education Center, is currently leased for use by Iowa Workforce Development. The lease agreement was extended by 90 days earlier this month; it expires Jan. 31, 2019.
The building was once a Volkswagen?dealership.
