Trojans take 4th at STC duals

South Tama wrestling hosted their home tournament on Saturday, December 8 at the Round House. Competing in the tourney were Independence, Dubuque Wahlert, Baxter, Omaha Burke, Solon, Vinton, Des Moines East and South Tama.

In Round One of action South Tama defeated Baxter 77-0, Independence topped Wahlert 63-11, Omaha Burke beat Des Moines East 48-26 and Solon defeated Vinton-Shellsburg 54-21.

In Round Two Wahlert defeated Baxter 59-0, Independence defeated South Tama 49-27, Des Moines East defeated Vinton-Shellsburg 51-22 and Solon defeated Omaha Burke 41-25.

In Round Three Independence defeated Baxter 84-0, South Tama defeated Wahlert 60-16, Solon defeated Des Moines East 42-27 and Omaha Burke defeated Vinton-Shellsburg 60-24.

In Round Four Omaha Burke defeated Independence 56-22, Solon defeated South Tama 56-18, Vinton-Shellsburg defeated Wahlert 34-30 and Des Moines East defeated Baxter 77-0.

In the final round five Solon defeated Independence 45-24, Omaha Burke defeated South Tama 66-15, Des Moines East defeated Wahlert 60-17 and Vinton-Shellsburg defeated Baxter 60-6.

Final team results were Solon taking 1st, Omaha Burke 2nd, Independence 3rd, South Tama 4th, Des Moines East 5th, Vinton-Shellsburg 6th, Wahlert 7th and Baxter 8th.

Some highlights for the Trojans included wins by Logan Arp (113), Brady Knode (126) and Cael Kellogg (220) in their dual with Omaha Burke. Arp (113) and Brody Chyma (106) each recorded falls in their dual against Solon. Baxter brought just six wrestlers to the tournament. STC's Payton Vest (170), Aiden Waseskuk (182), Kellogg (220), Brayden Smith (138), Garrett Arp (145) and Vincent Branan (152) each got wins in that dual with the rest of the Trojan roster winning by forfeit. Waseskuk, Chyma, Knode and Smith each won their matches against Independence. Chyma, Boden Koehler, G. Arp, Branan, Vest and Waseskuk also each recorded wins in the Trojans dual with Wahlert. Kellogg, L. Arp, Kyler Smith, Knode and Smith each won by forfeit.

The Trojans will be home on Thursday, December 13 for a double dual with Benton and Independence and Pin the Gym Night by the South Tama Activity Boosters.
