James R. Vest Sr. (Jimmie)

James R. Vest Sr. (Jimmie), age 52, of Montezuma, was born Jan, 7, 1966, in Sterling, Ill., the son of Don Vest Sr. and Patsy Vest and died on Dec. 7, 2018.

He attended South Tama Schools. Jimmie worked at Sutherland Printing in Montezuma for many years.

In his teen years he belonged to the Golden Gloves Boxing club as did his dad and uncle, Jack. He enjoyed watching football and racing and fishing at the river.

He was married to Joni (Webb)) but they later divorced. They had two children, Jim Jr. of Newton and Jennica of Ames, and two sweet little granddaughters, Kyaren and Addison.

Survivors include his father, Don Vest Dr., of Independence, Mo., five brothers, Tom (Janet) Tama, David (Dawn) Tama, Tim of Tama, Kevin of North Liberty, Michael of Grinnell, and two sisters,, Chris (Mike Kriegel), Tama and Jolene (Ed) Haughey, also of Tama.

He also had many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Don Jr.

Private burial will be at a later date. There will be a luncheon at Eagles Hall in Tama on Dec. 22nd at 1 p.m. in memory of Jimmie for family and friends.
